Aegean Sea - an intra-continental sea in the eastern Mediterranean, located between the Balkan Peninsula, Asia Minor and the islands of Crete, Karpathos and Rhodes. Through the Strait of Dardanelles it connects with the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea, and through the Corinthian Channel with the Ionian Sea. The coastline of this sea is perfectly developed (numerous peninsulas and bays), and the water surface is diversified by numerous islands (archipelagos of the Cyclades, Dodecanese, Northern Sporades, individual islands: Eubea, Chios, Limnos, Lesbos, Samothraka, Imroz and others).
